I am about to embark on an experiential study of Israel Regardie's The One Year Manual: Twelve Steps To Spiritual Enlightenment and would love to hear from anyone else who has followed this Golden Dawn based system.  In particular, I am interested in the experiences that you may have encountered whilst practicing the different exercises and what effects they had on you in your day-to-day life.  Please feel free to get in touch by e-mailing me at mike@esoteric-experience.org.uk

I would also like to hear from anyone who expresses their esoteric or occult tradition in artistic form.  I would like to create a new section of this site to showcase examples of 'esoteric' or 'spiritual' art from different traditions.  Again, please get in touch if you would like to take part.

www.esoteric-experience.org.uk is devoted to the study of spiritual experiences within Western Esotericism or occultism. This site presents the results of my dissertation for the MA in Religious Experience at the University of Wales, Lampeter.  The question I asked was whether spiritual experiences in occultism were positive or negative.  I looked at three esoteric traditions: Madame Blavatsky's Theosophy, G.I. Gurdjieff's Fourth Way, and S.L.M. Mather's Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.  Drawing on three sources; the published literature, the RERC archives, and contemporary esotericists, I collected accounts of such experiences.  A summary of my findings can be found on the results page.

Although my dissertation is finished my interest in this area continues and I intend to expand this site, with your help.  I am interested to hear from anyone with experience of occultism of any type or tradition.  I have also added additional content which relates to occultism and Western Esotericism, including the New World Order conspiracy theory, the Voynich Manuscript and parapsychology, which can be found on the research page.
